oik-bwtrace is no longer dependent upon the oik base plugin. Since version 1.28 / 2.0.0 oik-bwtrace has been a standalone plugin. The information below is applicable to previous versions of the plugin. The oik-bwtrace plugin has been a separately installable, standalone plugin since oik v1.17. This means that you can download, activate it and update it independently of the oik base plugin. But, since it still has a dependency on the oik base plugin’s API for the admin user interface it doesn’t become fully active until the oik base plugin is also installed and activated. Here’s what you should expect:

• If oik is active then the following dashboard pages will be active: Settings > oik trace options and Settings > oik action options
• If oik is not activated then the settings pages won’t work. But you can start tracing from wp-config.php
• Unlike oik-nivo-slider, oik-bwtrace does not have any built in dependency checking. If oik is not installed then oik-bwtrace may produce a fatal error. If you delete the oik base plugin while oik-bwtrace is activated then you may have to recover your site using your website’s control panel
